Amazon Key In-Garage Delivery: How It Works
In-garage delivery does exactly what the name says. A driver opens the garage, places the parcel inside, and closes it. The box never touches the porch. It is the most practical version of Amazon Key, because it needs access to a garage rather than to your home.

What it actually is
A delivery destination, chosen per order, that routes the parcel into the garage. It relies on a compatible door setup and an eligible address, both set by Amazon. You are not buying a service. You are selecting a destination at checkout.
Speed is unaffected. If the order is arriving today, it arrives today, just inside rather than outside. The delivery speeds guide covers the timing side.
What it needs
- A compatible garage setup, on Amazon’s supported list.
- An eligible address, since coverage is set place by place.
- The option selected on the orders you want routed inside.
Worth naming plainly. The list of compatible hardware belongs to Amazon and changes, so check it before you assume your door qualifies. A page like this cannot see your garage.
What it changes for a household
A parcel inside the garage is a parcel off the street, and that matters most where homes are close or porches are visible. It also keeps a delivery inside the shared space rather than at the door, which is worth a thought in a shared household.
What it does not change is how many deliveries arrive, or when. It moves the landing spot, not the schedule. If the goal is fewer trips, that is the delivery settings, not Key.
Buy it if you have a compatible garage and parcels are visible from the street.
Skip it if your setup is not supported. A destination you cannot choose is not a feature you have.
