The route is chosen when you start the return, and the choice is yours to make. So the skill is picking the drop off that fits the errand you are already running.

Each route trades convenience differently. A staffed site gives you a receipt on the spot. A locker skips the queue. A pickup skips the trip.
Label free, and what it saves you
A label free route means no printer, no tape, and no boxing skill required for many items. You show the code and the parcel goes. That convenience is the actual feature, more than the shipping being free.
What you bring depends on the option. Some want the original packaging, some do not, and the instruction on the return states which. Read it before you leave the house, because a second trip is the one thing a drop off is meant to avoid.
Choosing one
