How Long Is the Amazon Return Window?
The return window is a date, not a fixed number of days that applies to everything. Amazon sets it per order, and it can vary by item and by seller. So the useful answer is not a length. It is where to read your own.

Where the window lives
In your account, on the order, next to the return option. It states the last day you can start the return. That date outranks any general figure, including one on a page like this. One order, one window.
Starting the return inside the window is what matters, not finishing it inside the window. That distinction is why the date to note is the start date rather than a delivery date.
Why windows differ
Different items carry different terms. Electronics, clothing, and marketplace listings do not all follow one rule, and sellers set their own where they are allowed. Variation is normal, not an error. The order records what applies to what you bought.
That is also why two items in the same delivery can show two different last days. The box arrived together, and the terms did not.
The holiday extension
Over the holidays, Amazon extends some windows so gifts bought early can still be returned into the new year. It is one of the more generous wrinkles in the whole program, and it is set by Amazon. The detail is in the extended holiday return window.
Worth naming plainly. The extension turns a risky early gift buy into a safe one, which is why the buying advice in the pickup page still ends with reading the window.
Buy it if you order things you are unsure about and the window gives you room to decide.
Skip it if you always keep what you buy. Then the window is a formality.
