How to Share Amazon Prime with Your Spouse
A Household lets a second adult share one Prime membership without sharing a password. Each of you keeps your own sign in, your own order history, and your own recommendations. What you share is the plan and its benefits, which is the cheaper half of the deal anyway.

How the link works
The part nobody says out loud. Sharing is not the same as sharing a password. Each of you keeps a separate front door.
You invite the other adult from your account settings, and they accept. From then on, one membership covers the household, and each person still shops as themselves.
The separation is the feature. A shared login would mean shared recommendations, shared history, and a gift you were planning sitting in plain sight. Linking accounts avoids all of that.
What to check before you add anyone
- The payment question, since wallet and payment behavior in a Household is defined by Amazon.
- The allowance, because the number of adults per Household is set by Amazon and shown in its settings.
- The content question, since streaming draws from the same stream allowance once you share.
Read the payment section before you invite. It is the one part of sharing that people are startled by, and it is entirely avoidable with one look.
Is it worth adding a second adult
Almost always, if the second person orders or watches. The membership cost does not change, and the household gains the benefits. That is a rare thing in this bundle: more coverage for the same plan.
The exception is a second adult who barely uses the account. Then sharing adds a settings page and a stream limit without adding much value. Sharing is a multiplier, and a multiplier on zero is still zero.
Buy it if your spouse orders or watches and you want one plan instead of two.
Skip it if the second account is barely used. You are not saving anything by sharing a plan nobody wanted twice.
