In-home delivery goes one step past the garage. A driver places the parcel inside your home, not at the door. It is the option for a building with no garage and a doorstep anyone can see. It also asks for more trust than any other route, and that trade is the whole decision.

How the access works
The access is tied to the delivery rather than handed over permanently. The mechanism is set by Amazon and shown during setup, and it exists so a single delivery can be completed without leaving your door open for everyone. A one time door, not a spare key.
What it requires in hardware and eligibility is Amazon’s to state. Read the setup screen rather than assuming your building qualifies.
The trust question
This is the option people argue with themselves about, and the argument is fair. A garage is a buffer. A home is not. For some addresses and some neighbourhoods, the trade is clearly worth it. For others, it never will be.
Worth naming plainly. If the idea makes you uneasy, that is a real answer, and a locker does the same job with none of the trust. You are allowed to take the option that leaves you comfortable.
When it beats a locker
When a parcel is too large for a locker, when the nearest pickup point is a trip, or when the order is sensitive or valuable enough that a doorstep is the wrong place for it. In those cases in-home earns the trust it asks for.
