Early deals are the warm up, and they are real deals rather than a preview. Some offers open before a main window, often to members first, and the best of them can disappear before the event proper begins. Early buying trades the certainty of a full window for a lower price, and sometimes for stock that stays available.

What early deals are
Offers that open ahead of the headline window, sometimes tied to the event and sometimes running alongside it. What counts as early, and how early, is set by Amazon. You are not being shown a preview. You are being shown the sale, sooner.
For a member, that can be the better half of the whole event. The deepest discounts and the most wanted items are often the ones that move first, before the busiest days arrive.
Who gets them
Members, and often members only for the earliest stretch. The gate is the same as the main event, which is why an active membership matters before the window rather than during it. The free trial is the usual way to be inside the gate for a first event.
Worth naming plainly. The early window rewards people who prepared. If you are deciding on the opening morning, the best of the early deals may already be gone.
When buying early is the right call
For anything on your list that is limited in stock, early is a risk worth taking, because the price is right and the item is the one you wanted. For a purchase you are still deciding on, the extra certainty of the main window is worth more than a slightly deeper discount.
