Live sports open inside the Prime Video app you already have, on a smart TV, a streaming stick, a console, or whatever device carries it. Same login, same membership, same library. Nothing about the sport changes the app.
If the app is set up and the membership is active, you are ready for kickoff. The setup question is a device question, not a sports question.
Which devices work
The devices that support Prime Video are set and listed by Amazon, and the list changes as hardware does. A device that runs the app can play the live events the app carries.
Worth naming plainly. If a game will not start on a television, the cause is almost always the device or the login, not the sport. Check both before the event, not during it.
Stream limits, and the household

A shared membership is a shared stream budget. For a house that watches two games on two screens, that budget is worth checking before the season rather than after an error message.
Buy it if your devices already run Prime Video and one stream covers your household on game night.
