What Fire TV actually is
A streaming device that puts apps on a television, with Amazon’s interface on top. It is hardware, so it is a purchase, not a perk. Which devices exist and what they cost is set by Amazon and changes with the lineup.
What matters for the membership is simpler than the device list. If a device can run the apps, the membership’s content plays on it. The device is the pipe, and the pipe is whatever you own.
What Prime Video adds
The included catalog and the live events Amazon carries, which is the strong half of the digital bundle and the reason the whole set scores 5/7 in places. This is the perk worth joining around, ahead of the assistant.
It is also where a substitution lives. If Prime Video replaces a streaming bill you already carry, that is real monthly value, and the pattern is the same one the live sports guide describes for games.
What still costs extra
Rentals, purchases, and add on channels are billed on top on any device, including a Fire TV. Included content is included. Everything with a price tag is not. That line holds across Amazon’s own hardware and everyone else’s.
