Amazon Business Prime vs Personal Prime

5/7TuesdayScore™A different buyer, a different plan
  • Business Prime serves a business account, not a household.
  • It is sold on tiered plans rather than one price.
  • One tier is aimed at a single user.
  • Current plans and terms are Amazon’s to publish.

These two share a name and almost nothing else. Personal Prime serves a household. Business Prime serves a buying account, and it is sold on tiered plans instead of one price. The benefits overlap on delivery. Everything about who is buying, who approves, and what gets reported does not.

So the honest version of this comparison is not a feature count. It is a question about who is doing the purchasing, and whether that person needs controls a household plan has never offered.

The short answer. Business Prime is a paid tier for an Amazon Business account. It adds business side functions like multiple users, approvals, and reporting, on plans that scale from a single user upward. If you buy for yourself, personal Prime is the relevant plan, and the whole question is whether you have a business to run.

Two buyers, not two feature sets

The split is about the buyer. A household buys for people. A business buys for a company, and that changes what a membership has to do: who can spend, what needs approval, and how the spend gets reported at the end of a month.

The spec

Business Prime is tiered, from a single user plan up to plans built for teams and approvals.

What it does to a week

It moves purchasing from one person’s card to a controlled account. That is the whole value, and it is worth nothing to a household.

Think of it this way

Personal Prime buys you a household. Business Prime buys you a purchasing department. If you do not have a department to run, you are shopping for an org chart.

What the business side adds

ApprovalsNot a thingOrder approvals where the tier supports it

Read the middle column first. If none of those rows describe a problem you have, the business plan is solving someone else’s business.

How to choose, in one question

Do you buy for a business, and does anyone besides you need to see or approve that spend. If both answers are yes, the business side is built for you. If the second answer is no, you are a single user, and a single user tier or a personal plan is likely to cover it.

The tier names and prices change, so read them at the source. What does not change is the shape: business plans scale with users and controls, and household plans do not scale at all. For the household side, the worth it calculation is the honest test. The household alternative itself is Amazon Household, and the delivery benefits both sides share are in the delivery speeds guide.

Business Prime: the questions people actually ask

Does Business Prime include personal Prime benefits?

That depends on the tier, and the answer is stated by Amazon for each plan rather than shared across all of them. Some single user plans are built precisely around this question. Read the plan you are looking at rather than assuming the family carries over.

Is Business Prime worth it for a one person business?

Sometimes, and the deciding factor is not the delivery benefits, since those overlap with a household plan. It is whether you want business purchasing behavior: invoices, a separated account, and spend you can report. If none of that matters to you, see the sole proprietor page.

More on Business Prime

Buy it if more than one person buys for the business, or you need approvals, invoicing, and reporting.

Skip it if you are the only buyer and nobody needs a report. Then a household plan is the honest one, and the business tiers are admin you would be buying for its own sake.

Business Prime plans, tiers, features, and pricing are set by Amazon and described from Amazon’s published pages, checked 2026-09-26. Current plans are shown on your own account. See also how to sign up for Amazon Prime.
